The Power of Beliefs
DO YOU KNOW THAT WHAT YOU BELIEVE DETERMINES YOUR SUCCESS?
Before explaining how important it is to have a positive belief system you need to understand that the life that you live has been attracted by your own thoughts and beliefs.
Your success or failure is all dependent on what you feed your mind, especially in your subconscious mind. If you experience more failure than success, it is likely caused by the barriers and limiting beliefs you have placed on yourself in your mind.
What you experienced in your past has likely set the starting point or a benchmark in your belief system and has determined your level of self confidence and self esteem. When you experienced a failure in the past it may have started a negative mindset of self doubt that keeps holding you back. The more you continue to doubt yourself the more you may have stopped yourself to be successful.
Our belief system has been strongly influenced by our upraising. You may remember instances in your childhood where your success and recognition by others were dictated for example, by your ability to achieve high grades or be a champion in sports competitions. We tend to carry this thought and belief process to be a high achiever into our adult life.
To change a limiting belief in ourselves that hinders our success we need to understand that failure is inevitable. Everyone has experienced failure in their life, but how you actually deal with set backs is how you believe in yourself and your capabilities. A belief that you have the ability and strength to get up and try again can get you through failures and challenging times.
To change a negative belief system you not only need to change your thoughts, but you also need to work on your emotions and learn to shift negative emotions into positive ones. Emotions shape our thoughts and ideas, which become our beliefs and determine how we behave in certain situations. When we become aware of our emotions and shift negative emotions to positive ones we can change the way we operate in our daily life. When we do this on a regular basis the shift will happen.
If you want to change your beliefs start by focusing on what you would like to achieve. What does success look and feel like for you? Then start to believe that you can achieve it. When you do this daily it will assist you to say focused on your goals instead of quitting when challenges arise.
Albert Einstein was once thought to be mentally handicapped as he had speech difficulties as a child. As a teen he failed in his school and also failed the first test to enter a polytechnic school. However, he didn’t give up and trained to apply again to be finally accepted.
A few years later he had a Ph.D. and was recognized as a leading theorist. A few years after that he had a Nobel prize for physics and began to be recognised as the genius of our modern era.
He wrote this famous quote: “Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new”.
